Abdul Haris, Dr. rer. nat.

Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris is a member of academic staff at Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia. He was born in Pemalang on September 21, 1970. He obtained his Bachelor and Master degrees from Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia. He continued his Doctoral Study in the Field of Geophysics at Kiel University, Germany, under supervision Prof. Dr. E. Flueh, Prof. Dr. W. Rabel and Dr. Dirk Klaschen, and finished it on 2002. He successfully defended his dissertation entitled “Amplitude Preserving Pre-stack Depth Migration and Its Application to Imaging of BSR in Marine Multi-channel Seismic Reflection Data” with cum laude. He is now actively working as lecturer and providing supervision for under graduate and graduate geophysics students. He also actively contributes to the Indonesian Geophysical Society (HAGI) as a Vice President of HAGI for certification.

Prof. Dr. A. Harsono Soepardjo, M.Eng. is a staff member at Department of Physics, FMIPA, University of Indonesia. He was born in Solo on July 7, 1951. He obtained his bachelor degree from University of Indonesia, master degree from Leuven University, and doctor degree from Mont Pellier II France with the topic Photovoltaic.
His current research interests are Photovoltaic, Material Physics, and Solar Energy. His title of his dissertation was Material Fabrication CuInSe2 Ingot or Thin Film with Prof. C. Linares as the supervisor. The topic of his research includes “Making the Ingot Mono Chrystal AgInSe2”.

Ariadne Lakshmidevi, Ph.D

Dr. Ariadne Juwono is one of the staf members in the Department of Physics, FMIPA University of Indonesia. She was graduated from Physics, ITB. She received her master degree from University of South Australia in the Material Engineering specification, whereas her Ph.D. was from Monash University. She was actively participating as a referee of the L’Oreal Women in Science competition sponsored by UNESCO, Dikti, and L’oreal in 2008, as well as in the Young Researcher Contest organized by LIPI in 2011.

Her current research interest includes Material Sciences and Nano Composites. The title of her dissertation is Fatigue and Fracture of Clay / Epoxy Nanocomposites, with Prof. G. Edward as a co-promoter. For her achievement and contribution in physics Dr. Juwono has been awarded with several prizes including the Best Researcher in Sciences from the University of Indonesia in 1997.

Prof. Dr. Anto Sulaksono is a lecturer and researcher at Department of Physics, FMIPA University of Indonesia since 1995. He was born in Jakarta on April 21, 1969. He graduated in 1992 from Department of Physics, University of Indonesia and earned his master degree also from the same Department in 1996. He received his doctor degree in Theoretical Nuclear Physics from Frankfurt University in 2002 under supervision of  Prof. Dr. J. A. Maruhn and Prof. Dr.h.c.mult W. Greiner. The title of his dissertation is “Ein Relativistisches Punktkopplungs Model: Formale Unterschungen und Anwendung Auf Uberschwere Kerne.”

His current research interests are quantum many body theories and their applications for finite nuclei and nuclear matter.

Expertise and current research interests:

Dr. Manaf is an expert and active researcher in the field of magnetism for permanent magnet applications. Recently, he has extended his interest to include the application of soft magnetic materials for radar absorbers.

 

Major research achievements:

One of the significant breakthrough in Dr. Manaf’s research works is his report on the New nanocrystalline high-remanence Nd-Fe-B alloys by rapid solidification, that was published in Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials 128, 302–306 (1993). The very strong enhancement of remanent magnetization results from the grain exchange coupling effect due to nanostructure development during the rapid solidification process by melt-spinning technique. This finding was obtained through a systematic investigation of the effects of grain refinement into the nanocrystalline regime in enhancing the remanence and maximum energy product, (BH)max performed for Nd-Fe-B materials with small silicon additions. This was then extended to ternary low Nd near-stoichiometric alloys, and eventually the effect was shown to be general, provided that the grains are magnetically coupled. His discovery is believed to be highly significant from the fundamental and technological viewpoints. Scientifically, he demonstrated that the nanostructure in magnetic materials that promotes grain interaction lead to remanent magnetization above the theoretical value based on Stoner and Wohlfarth, SW theory. This was apparently in contravention of the theory which states that, for randomly oriented, non-interacting magnetic particles having uniaxial anisotropy, the ratio of remanent to saturation magnetization less than or equal to 0.5. His description to this phenomenon was initially disbelieved by magnetic “community” though, subsequently, similar behaviour was also reported by a research group of Phillips for a very low Nd containing alloys. The effects have now been widely accepted since more research groups of both experimental and theoretical have confirmed these results. Technologically, materials with nanostructures are commercially very attractive since, provided the nanocrystalline structures are equivalent to that described in Dr. Manaf’s report on Ne-Fe-B, remanence enhancements can be achieved by overquenching and annealing so that materials can be produced in bulk for polymer-bonded magnets.

Dr. Azwar Manaf is the author and co-author of more than 20 internationally published papers regarding magnetic materials alone. He is also the holder of European Patent No. EP 0650 634 B1, Assignee : University of Sheffield, “Magnetic Materials and Methods of Making Them”  published on 27/3/1996. It is also noticed that at the international scientific meetings on magnetic materials as well as scientific papers in international journals related to magnetic materials, many researchers have cited Dr. Manaf’s research works in their references. He was also awarded a Brunton Medal by the University of Sheffield United Kingdom for his excellent research works in 1992. Universitas Indonesia has also awarded him certificates/prizes as Peneliti Muda Berprestasi of FMIPA, Univ. Supriyanto Ardjo Pawiro, Ph.D

Supriyanto Pawiro was born at Cilacap, Central Java. He obtained his Bachelor from Diponegoro University and received Master degree from University of Indonesia majoring in Medical Physics.  Subsequently, he  involved in Clinical Medical Physics Training of Radiotherapy Physics at Department of Radiotherapy, National Cancer Center of Singapore funded by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

He did PhD in Medical Physics at Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering, Medical University of Vienna in cooperation with University Clinic of Radiotherapy and Radiobiology Medical University of Vienna/Allgemeines Krankenhaus der Stadt Wien (AKH). Before he return back to Indonesia, he worked at Medical Radiation Physics Section, Division of Human Health, IAEA as intern.

Anawati, Ph.D.

Anawati was born in Cirebon, Indonesia. She joined Physics department as an academic staff in 2016. Her research field covers the area of materials science in particular light metals, electrochemistry, corrosion, coating and anodizing. She has published papers in prestigious International Journal and actively attended International conferences.

Anawati gained her bachelor degree in Physics from Institut Teknologi Bandung in 2002. She pursued her master degree in Advanced Materials, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden and graduated in 2005. She continued her doctoral study in Materials Technology in Norwegian University of Science and Technology and graduated in 2010. Afterwards, she worked as a postdoc for a year at Fontana Corrosion Centre, The Ohio State University (OSU), US and about four years in Tokyo, Japan at Research Institute for Science and Technology, Kogakuin University.

Dr. Bambang Soegijono is one of the staf members in the Department of Physics, University of Indonesia. He was born in Kebumen on December 16, 1956. He received his bachelor degree in the field of Pure Physics from University of Indonesia. He obtained his doctorate degree in the Materials Physics from Uniersitate Ecole Central de Lyon, France. Efta Yudiarsah, Ph.D. was born in Pagar Jati, South Sumatera, on 16 April 1972. He obtained his BS (1997) and MS (2000) degrees in physics from the University of Indonesia Department of Physics. He was selected to participate in the Diploma Programme on Condensed Matter Physics held by The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Phyicis (ICTP), in Trieste, Italy (2001-2002). He earned his PhD degree from the Department of Physics of Ohio University in 2008, with the dissertation entitled Charge Transport through Molecules: Structural and Dynamical Effects.

Handhika Satrio Ramadhan, Ph.D.

Handhika S. Ramadhan, Ph.D was born in Jakarta, July 10 1983. He received his bachelor in physics from University of Indonesia in the field of theoretical physics in 2005. He obtained his PhD in theoretical cosmology from Tufts Institute of Cosmology, Tufts University at Medford, Massachussetts, USA, in 2011, under the supervision of Prof.Jose Juan Blanco-Pillado. His dissertation title is “Higher-dimensional Topological Defects in Cosmology”.

Dr.Ramadhan’s research interest is in the area of topological defects (domain walls, cosmic strings, monopoles, textures), and their roles in cosmology, nuclear and particle physics. He is also interested in the study of instantons and vacuum decay in cosmology; in particular, the non-perturbative transition (quantum tunneling) in string theory flux compactification.

Brief Profile:

Imam Fachruddin is a member of faculty at Department of Physics, Universitas Indonesia, majoring theoretical nuclear physics. He was born in Jakarta on December 5, 1968. He received a “Sarjana” degree (equivalent to bachelor degree) in Physics in 1992 and a master degree in Physics in 1996 from Universitas Indonesia. In 2003 he received a “Dr.rer.nat.” degree from Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum, Germany, with a dissertation entitled “A Three-Dimensional Momentum Space Formulation for The NN System and The Nd Break-Up Process”.

Kristina Tri Wigati, M.Si was born in Jakarta, August 17, 1982. She received her Bachelor from Department of Physics, Bogor Agricultural University (2004) and her Master degree from Department of Physics majoring in Medical Physics, University of Indonesia (2008). Her research concentration is image quality, dosimetry and optimisation of radiation protection in the field of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology.

She has involved in Clinical Medical Physics Training of Diagnostic Radiology at Radiology Department, Westmead Hospital, NSW, Australia in 2010 funded by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). She has also participated in several advanced schools conducted by joint International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and IAEA in the topics of dosimetry in Diagnostic Radiology (2009), mammography (2011), and radiation protection for patients (2012). Currently she also involves in the establishment and implementation of compliance testing program for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology equipment conducted by national nuclear energy regulatory agency.

Muhammad Aziz Majidi, Ph.D.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH:

Muhammad Aziz Majidi received a Sarjana degree (equivalent to B.Sc. plus) in physics in 1993 from University of Indonesia Department of Physics, and a master’s degree in 1997, in the same field from the same department. Further, he was selected to participate in the Diploma Programme on Condensed Matter Physics held by ICTP, in Trieste, Italy (1997-1998). He received his Ph.D. degree from the Physics Department, University of Cincinnati, USA, in 2006, with a dissertation entitled Computational Studies of Ferromagnetism in Strongly Correlated Electronic Systems (under advisory of Prof. Mark Jarrell). Before returning to Indonesia, he had worked as a postdoctoral research associate (2006-2008) at Physics Dept. of University of North Dakota, USA (under supervision of Prof. Juana Moreno).

 

RESEARCH INTEREST:

Dr. Majidi is a member of the Condensed-Matter Physics group and his field of interest is Theoretical-Computational Condensed Matter Physics. His research focuses on modeling of strongly-correlated systems such as manganites, cuprates, and dilute magnetic semiconductors, and recently, also graphene, to predict their thermodynamic, transport, and optical properties. In most of his research, he employs the method of Dynamical Mean Field Theory (DMFT) and its extentions. In addition, recently, he has also started developing algorithmic implementions of Feynman diagrammatic – based techniques, such as GW and Ladder Diagram approximations, to study effects of electron-electron and electron-hole interactions revealed in optical responses of strongly-correlated systems. Since the past few years, his research has mainly been in collaboration with Dr. Andrivo Rusydi’s research group of the Department of Physics, National University of Singapore (NUS).

Rosari Saleh, Prof. Dr. rer.nat.

Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Rosari Saleh received her doctorate degree in 1990 from Fahrbereich Physik Philipps Universitaet Marburg, Germany. She has become a full professor of physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Indonesia since 2007. Her current research focuses on the synthesis and analysis of the physical properties of nanoparticle systems.

Dr. Santoso Soekirno has an expertise in the Sensors and Electronics area and is currently the Chairman of the Physics Department, University of Indonesia. Besides actively lecturing the Sensors and  Electronics Instrumentation, he is also busy tutoring the students in completing their final projects, especially those related to the sensors and transducers. He was born in Jogjakarta on 4 April, 1961. He received his bachelor and master degrees from University of Indonesia and his doctor degree from the University of Besancon, France, in the field of the LC components with the dissertation title Frequency Control Parameters for Oscillator Sensor, A Study on LC Component.

Dr. Sastra Kusuma Wijaya is one of the lecturers in the Department of Physics, University of Indonesia. His expertise is Electronics Intrumentation. He was born in Jakarta on November 26, 1958. He received his Ph.D. from Okayama Univfersity, Japan, in the field of the Natural Sciences & Engineering, with a title of dissertation: Mechanical Mobility Technique for Stability and Geometry Assessment of Dental Implant. He has also a strong interest in the Biomedics Instrumentation.

Besides actively working as an educator, he also joins to train and manage the Physics Olympiad Team, especially in the experimental discussion, which is one important aspect of the assessment at the International Physics Olympiad. He has also written a number of papers in international journals such as the IEEE Journal.

Dr. Sastra Kusuma Wijaya has received several awards such as “The Best Paper Award in the Proc. of the 9th Scientific Meeting of the Indonesian Student Asscosiation,” Tokyo, Japan (2001)  as well as “The Outstanding Paper Award in the Proc. ICBME “, Singapore (2002).

Yunus Daud, Dr. Eng.

Yunus Daud is a faculty member of the Department of Physics, University of Indonesia. He was born in Tegal in November 4, 1968. Heobtained  his doctor degree in the field of Exploration Geophysics from the Department of Earth Resources Engineering, Kyushu University, Japan, with  the dissertation title Geophysical Studies Over the Sibayak Geothermal Field (Indonesia). He was one of the young researchers with the expertise in Exploration Geophysics, Geothermal Affairs, Mining and Environment.

Currently, he is actively performing the research in Geophysical Modeling Crater Hot Springs Red at Pancar Mountain, Bogor (2006), and he has written a number of international publications.

Bernadus E.F. Da Silva is a staff member at the Department of Physics, University of Indonesia. He was born in Larantuka, East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara on April 7, 1938. He received his bachelor and master degrees in the field of Physics from the University of San Carlos, Philippines. Meanwhile, he obtained his doctor degree in Physics from the Universitat Electronics de Montpellier, France, with the dissertation title Contribution a L’Étude des Diodes Schottky Caractérisées par E.B.I.C. et Bruit de Fond.

Djarwani Soeharso Soejoko, Prof. Dr.

Prof. Djarwani S. Soejoko is one of the few senior faculties in the Department of Physics, University of Indonesia. She was born in Salatiga on June 16., 1945.  She received her bachelor and master degrees from the University of Indonesia in the field of physics of materials. She obtained her Ph.D. in the field of biophysics from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), with the dissertation titled “A study on the composition and structure of mineral compounds in the cuticle of macrobrachium rosenbergii and penaeus monodon and their evolutions during the moulting period”.

Prof. Djarwani S. Soejoko is still active in research and teaching as well as tutoring the students in the field of medical physics. She has published a number of publications in her field in the national and international journals. She is the founder of the Medical Physics Physics divison in the Department of Physics. For her service and dedication she has been awarded with the “Satya Lencana Karya 30 Years”.

Dr. Suhardjo Poertadji is a senior lecturer and researcher in the Department of Physics, University of Indonesia. He was born in Yogyakarta on July 7, 1950. He received his Ph.D. in the field of Materials Physics from University Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France with the title of dissertation “Dynamigue de spins Electronigues dans un Systeme Unidimensional a Couplage Ferromagnetigue”. His specific expertise is Materials Physics, Paramagnetism, Materials Paramagnetic, Superconductor, and  Ionic Conduction.

He has written a number of national and international papers, one of which is “ESR in al D System with a ferromagnetic Coupling”  published in Physique Lett. 44, 561 (1983).  He has also received several awards including the “Satyalancana Karya” in 2001 and “Award for International Scientific Journal” in 1997 and 1999
